FHPcast at a Glance

Where is FHPcast available?

The recording technology is currently installed in the following rooms:

How do I use FHPcast?

Videos that have already been published can be viewed in the Media Module.

You have the option of starting a recording yourself in the lecture theatre - further information on this can be found in the FAQ.

It is also possible to have an individual event or a series of events recorded automatically. Please let us know this and the following information by sending an e-mail to fhpcast@fh-potsdam.de:

  • date and time (regular start and end time, if there are several events, please list each date)
  • name of the event (module name)
  • subject area
  • name(s) of the lecturer(s) and contact person(s)
  • e-mail address of the contact person
  • publication location and type: public in the MediaPortal, only viewable in the Moodle course or private (for your own purposes, provision of the files to you by the FHPcast administrators)

For which teaching scenarios is FHPcast suitable?

FHPcast or Opencast is the right tool for you if you want to record a lecture live in the lecture theatre. Opencast is only suitable to a limited extent for highly interactive lectures. It is particularly suitable for (teaching) lectures in which there is little interaction with the participants.

Opencast records the beamer image shown, e.g. presentations and videos. It is also possible to use the room PC (operated via the Wacom board) or a visualiser. The sound is also recorded, i.e. any sound that you play via your laptop, as well as your voice via the lecture theatre microphones.

FAQ FHPcast

You can find everything you need to know about the FHPcast in our FAQ.

Important notes on recordings in the lecture theatre

Speak loudly and clearly into the microphone. Do not stand more than 50 ? 80 cm away from the microphone and check your volume occasionally.

Recordings are automatically uploaded to the FHPcast system and then checked manually during further processing. Therefore, please inform us via fhpcast@fh-potsdam.de about a recording that has taken place so that it can be allocated and published accordingly.

At the start of each recording, make sure that after pressing the "Record" button (red dot) you can see the (flashing) text "Recording in progress" (at the edge of the screen).

The speedy processing of recordings is largely dependent on how clearly recorded events can be assigned. In the case of known, recurring recordings, announce these dates in advance, otherwise provide clear information about this recording with the following information:

  • period and location of the recording
  • lecturers and persons in the picture
  • module name (if already available, the series title)
  • title of the recorded course unit
