The team from the Information Science Department's Distance Learning Archive programme was once again at ARCHIVISTICA this year. The ARCHIVISTICA trade fair was once again held parallel to the German Archives Day in Suhl from the 8^th to 10^th of October 2024. ARCHIVISTICA has successfully established itself as the largest European trade fair for archives for many years and attracts exhibitors from Germany and abroad as well as numerous trade fair visitors every year.

As the most important industry gathering for archivists, documentarians, registrars and conservators, companies from the fields of office technology, IT, microfilming, digitisation, shelf construction, restoration and conservation presented their products and innovations to an interested specialist audience.

The Department of Information Sciences presented its wide range of further education programmes for prospective archivists. As always, there was particular interest in the further education Master's programme in Archival Science, which will start with new courses in October 2025, as will the archive distance learning programme. The further education programme "Archives in the Information Age", which has been run in cooperation with the FU Berlin since 2008, was also very well received. A new run will also begin in autumn 2025. Details on the further education programme for media and information services specialists and, of course, the Bachelor of Archives direct study programme were also in high demand among visitors.

The statistics show that more than 50 information sessions were held. In view of the urgent need for further training in the archives sector, potential applicants and alumni took advantage of the opportunity to exchange ideas and information. The stand once again proved to be a magnet for interested professionals, who urgently need well-qualified specialists!
