Inaugural Lecture by Prof. Dr. Ronny Sorge
On the occasion of his appointment as Professor of Planning and Construction of Traffic Routes at the Department of Civil Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ronny Sorge holds his inaugural lecture entitled "The Future of Road Construction".
Road construction is the subject of controversial political and social debate. Roads open up and connect places, but also people; they form the basis for the distribution and supply of goods – without roads, there is no provision of services of general interest for society. In addition to these complex tasks, road construction also faces numerous challenges. These include increasing traffic congestion, climate change and insufficient budgets for road construction and maintenance as well as the declining acceptance of road construction in politics and society.
In his inaugural lecture, Prof. Dr. Ronny Sorge will present numerous innovations, potentials and sustainable approaches that can contribute to making road construction and roads fit for the future.
