University of Applied Sciences Potsdam showcases sustainable road construction technologies at the 11th Potsdam Science Day

On Saturday, 10 May 2025, the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP) will once again be taking part in the 11th Potsdam Science Day with the FHP-Mobil. At Research Camp A in the Potsdam Science Park, the Department of Civil Engineering will be offering exciting insights into a current research project on sustainable cold recycling in road construction.
From 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., visitors are invited to discuss innovative, resource-saving construction methods with Prof Dr Ronny Sorge and the FHP team at the FHP-Mobil. The project shows how old building materials can be reused directly on site - without the need for energy-intensive new procurement. Material requirements are reduced, as are transport costs, CO? emissions and costs - an important contribution to a more climate-friendly infrastructure.
Drill cores can be compared on site and the results of the research can be experienced at first hand. How does the material change through reuse? What are the advantages of cold recycling compared to conventional methods? These and other questions will be clearly explained and discussed.
Students from the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences will also be on site. They will provide insights into everyday study life and are the ideal contacts for prospective students.
The FHP-Mobil - science on wheels
The FHP-Mobil is a mobile exhibition and information stand of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. It brings current research projects directly to the public - interactively, vividly and practically. Equipped with technology, materials and presentation areas, it serves as a platform for exchange between science and society and makes research tangible for everyone.
