German Water Management Young Talent Award for outstanding final thesis presented to graduate of the Department of Civil Engineering in June 2025
FHP graduate Damian Adler is the winner of the Young Talent Award of the German Water Industry 2025 in the Bachelor category, which is awarded every two years by the trade magazine wwt on the basis of a jury assessment and online voting.
Damian Adler defended his Bachelor's thesis in the dual degree programme in Urban Water Management at the Department of Civil Engineering in September 2024. Both the supervising professor at FHP, Prof Dr Gunar Gutzeit, and the second assessor from the dual practice partner company Berliner Wasserbetriebe, Dr Martin Schulz, praised the bachelor's thesis as outstanding.
Using the Berlin waterworks Kladow as an example, Damian Adler investigated how colloidal humic substances and the associated water colouration can be reliably and cost-effectively removed by dosing flocculants in order to comply with the legal limit value. He was convincing from both a scientific and an application-related perspective - another successful example of the good integration of theory and practice in the dual Bachelor's degree programme at the Department of Civil Engineering.
Congratulations to Damian Adler as the winner of the nationwide competition and good luck in the current Master's programme in Water Management at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences.
