Interflex Project on the Topic "Zerst?rte Vielfalt: Bücher – Bauten – Biografien"
A joint project of the departments of Social and Educational Sciences, Information Sciences and CITY | BUILDING | CULTURE, Conservation and Restoration programme
Project content
The project took place in the context of the theme year "Zerst?rte Vielfalt" and focused on the nazi book burning on 10 May 1933, the destruction of Jewish shops and synagogues in the Kristallnacht of 9/10 November 1938, the beginning of the deportations in December 1941 and the Holocaust. In the context of this block event, the students dealt with the persecution of different groups of victims under Nazism.
Interdisciplinary groups were to be formed to support and complement each other in independent research work on selected individual aspects. This means that restoration concepts and social science research were to be networked with archival, library and documentary skills and the different perspectives and approaches of the three disciplines were to be taken into account. The plan was to document the project week using film and photos and to publish the results in the form of a film.
The classroom sessions were supplemented by several excursions: New Synagogue and Archive of the Centre Judaicum (Oranienburgerstra?e Berlin), Memorial to the Sinti and Roma Murdered under National Socialism (Berlin), Neues Museum (Berlin), Ravensbrück Memorial, Jewish Synagogue (Potsdam) and the Stahnsdorf Southwest Churchyard.
