In the international public health context, free access to scientific research results is the consensus. A variety of tools are already available for individual steps in research data management in the life sciences, but there is still a lack of approaches for comprehensive research data management in the areas of biomedical, molecular data that simultaneously function as an organisational and control instrument at a higher level. Also missing is a uniform workflow for handling research data and the automated integration of all necessary metadata.

This is where the project "MaMoDaR: Management Molekularer Daten im Research Data Life Cycle"*, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), comes in with the aim of optimising the efficient and sustainable handling of research data. The project partners are the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP).

The project focuses on the development, documentation and publication of a reusable concept and a user-friendly software solution for research data management of molecular data, taking into account the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). The software developed in the process, known as DataLinker, supports the structured publication of scientific data in accordance with FAIR principles. Existing solutions such as the Research Data Management Organiser (RDMO) and public repositories such as GenBank are also integrated into the system.

The poster explains how DataLinker uses information from the data management plan (DMP) created by RDMO and rules based on standard operating procedures (SOPs) to automatically enrich and store collected measurement data with relevant metadata. In addition, the possibilities and advantages for users, scientists and funders are outlined.
