Practical experience at the Department of Information Sciences: Impressions of the internship day 2025

? Anja Lindemann

On 7/05/2025, the annual internship day took place at the Department of Information Sciences: a highlight for anyone interested in an internship at home and abroad or who would like to get an authentic impression of working life in the information industry.

Many students took advantage of the internship day 2025 to find out more about internship opportunities in a varied programme of presentations, discussions and personal talks. The Head of the International Office, Johanna Janotta, provided valuable input on the topic of internships abroad.

A particular focus was the joint poster exhibition by students from the internship semester. A wide range of internship experiences were vividly presented here - from work placements in libraries and archives to projects in IT companies and international activities.

A special item on the programme was the exchange of experiences with former students. They spoke openly and practically about their entry into professional life, gave tips on finding an internship and answered questions about requirements, applications and personal development during their studies. This exchange gave visitors valuable insights into possible career paths after graduation.

The internship day impressively demonstrated how diverse the opportunities at the Department of Information Sciences are and how worthwhile it is to consider the topic of internships at an early stage.
