Information on data protection for students

The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam treats your personal data confidentially; it is collected and processed exclusively for the selection of suitable applicants and for the implementation of the Deutschlandstipendium programme. Your data may be passed on to the responsible departments of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam involved in the selection process as well as to the public and, if applicable, private sponsors financing your scholarship in accordance with § 13 of the Scholarship Programme Act (StipG) for the purpose of selection and subsequent possible awarding of the Deutschland-Stipendium. These persons are, of course, obliged to maintain confidentiality. The legal basis for this is § 10 StipG. According to this, applicants for the scholarship programme are obliged to provide the information required for the examination of the performance and suitability requirements and to submit the corresponding evidence. Which of these details you provide is up to you: Tell us what qualifies you for the Deutschlandstipendium! We are aware that some of the information provided is highly confidential; some of the information (e.g. about illnesses or migration background) is a special type of personal data within the meaning of Art. 9 DS-GVO. Your data will always be treated confidentially and protected by up-to-date technical security measures.

According to § 13 StipG, we are obliged to transmit scholarship data to the Federal Statistical Office in order to compile federal statistics. This is done anonymously, i.e. without disclosing your name and contact details.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research(BMBF) carries out random checks on the basis of the data of the funded students in order to avoid double funding, in accordance with Article 4(2) StipG. For this purpose, the BMBF may query and store the surname, first name, date of birth, address and university location of individual funded students and compare them with the data of other funding institutions. The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is legally obliged to transmit this data. After the sample has been carried out, the data will be deleted. In the event that a scholarship is awarded, the data will be stored for six years after the end of the scholarship for these purposes. If your application is unsuccessful in this selection procedure, we will store your data for a maximum of 18 months in order to be able to consider you in a subsequent procedure if necessary and to simplify an application in the next selection procedure.

Your sponsor may wish to get to know you in order to invite you to events or perhaps offer you a work placement. However, this contact is only possible if you agree to the disclosure of your data to the sponsors. This is completely voluntary.

The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam would like to promote contact between the scholarship holders and nominees (successors) and network them with each other. However, this contact is only possible if you agree to the disclosure of your data to the other scholarship holders and nominees (successors). This is completely voluntary.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your place of residence, place of study or place of the alleged infringement, if you consider that the processing and disclosure of personal data concerning you is in breach of the GDPR.

The data processing is based on Art 6 Para. 1 lit b GDPR as far as the data processing serves the handling of your donation. If the data processing serves to send you information material, the data processing is carried out on the basis of Art 6 Para. 1 lit f GDPR. Your data will be used exclusively by us; we will not pass on any data to third parties. We would like to point out that you can object to the storage, processing and use of your data for the purpose of sending you information material at any time by sending an email to deutschland-stipendium@fh-potsdam.de.
