Circular design, standardisation and teaching belong together!
How can we promote sustainable product development and ensure that future experts are well prepared for it? For example, with projects and collaborations that bring standards and teaching together. As part of their design studies, students at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam have been working intensively on DIN EN 45560.

The standard on the "Method for the design of circular products" contains requirements and guidelines for the integration of circularity into the design and development process of products. As a building block of the circular economy, DIN EN 45560 can contribute to this – a forward-looking concept for the transition from linear to circular value creation systems. In this way, the economy can be transformed sustainably. To ensure that future experts also have a better understanding of and access to standards, standards should be integrated more strongly into teaching.

The students' results were presented in the DIN courtyard in the FHP-Mobil and show the commitment and creativity of the students:

Practical application: By dismantling and analysing products, new insights into optimising material use and efficiency were gained.

Innovative approaches: The results were incorporated into new design approaches that promote sustainable design.

Circular design, teaching and standardisation belong together!
