The FHP Mobile with the Conservation and Restauration Degree Programme at the Potsdam Science Day
The FHP Mobile continued its tour in 2023. At the beginning of May, we visited the Griebnitzsee campus of the University of Potsdam.
The Potsdam Science Day is always an extraordinary experience, and this was no different on the 6th of May 2023.
The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam presented the Conservation and Restoration degree programme through its FHP Mobil, with colleagues Eva Laabs, Prof. Dr. Steffen Laue, Prof. Dr. Angelika Rauch and Prof. Dr. Jeannine Meinhardt providing fascinating insights into the study areas of wood, stone, mural painting and natural sciences. They explained surface treatments using actual samples from various projects, illustrated the structure of marquetry and the use of glass block mosaics. The microscope was even used to visualise the differences between hardwoods and softwoods.
All in all, the conservation and restoration lecturers were able to leave a lasting impression on the interested visitors to this fascinating field of research.
