Prof. Dr. Ben Heuwing

Prof. Dr. Ben Heuwing has been teaching as a part-time professor at the Department of Information Sciences since April 2022.

The Professor of Usability and UX studied "International Information Management" at the University of Hildesheim. He then worked as a research assistant in projects on the user-centred design and accessibility of websites and apps and was awarded his doctorate in 2015.

Heuwing has been at ]init[ AG for digital communication and IT service providers since 2017. As a business analyst in the area of requirements management, he has been keeping an eye on the requirements of customers and users alike since 2021 and leads a team that digitises complex processes on the basis of a low-code platform. The focus here is on the digitalisation of public administration services for citizens.

Prof. Dr. Ben Heuwing: "I also want to learn a lot myself in the professorship: through the questions and experiences of the students, through the perspectives of colleagues from the departments and through the opportunity to familiarise myself with new topics and methods. It is important to me that graduates are well prepared for professional activities in the areas of UX concept and requirements management – or, if that is not their focus, that they have understood the basic principles of user-centred design – because these can be transferred and applied to many areas."

My greatest success was ...
professionally, when everyone involved in the implementation of the procedural platform for coronavirus economic aid, my current and very strenuous project, was thanked in a speech to the Bundestag.
