Klimadinge: An Exhibition Project of the Arts Management and Cultural Work Degree Programme

From the 14th to the 24th of January 2025, students from the Bachelor's degree programme in Arts Management and Cultural Work will be presenting the interdependence of the human and non-human worlds using 13 objects. The aim is to experiment with a multi-perspective narrative: "Klimadinge" aims to raise awareness of the relationships and thus call for more care for the non-human world.

The students with Prof. Nicola Lepp cordially invite you to the vernissage on the 14th of January from 6.00 pm in the foyer of House A at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam!

Is it conceivable that even a wild bee, a river or entire ecosystems need a voice – and that this is more important today than ever?

Today, in the age of the Anthropocene, it is clear that human intervention has long had irreversible consequences for the ecology of our planet. Many of today's ecological crises, above all climate change and species extinction, are man-made. It is becoming increasingly clear that the exploitation of nature as a resource for solely human purposes is turning against humans themselves and posing an existential threat to livelihoods. Against this backdrop, concepts beyond the "human" are gaining relevance, which also consider non-human creatures as rightful inhabitants of the earth.

The exhibition "Klimadinge" uses 13 objects to explore the interdependence of the human and non-human worlds. By looking at each object from three perspectives, it focusses on the different needs of the actors and thus highlights the interdependencies. In this context, mediation in the sense of the French philosopher Baptiste Morizot means not taking sides, but rather placing oneself at the service of relationships. To do this, we assume the position of a diplomat and take on a representative role: "I as". This gives a voice to those who would otherwise go unheard.
