Transfer Professorships at the FH Potsdam
The transfer professorships bring expertise from the university into practice in order to drive innovation and knowledge transfer in the region.

Our transfer professors
The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam was the first university of applied sciences in Brandenburg to create transfer professorships in order to strengthen the transfer of knowledge and technology between research and application and to facilitate closer collaboration with external partners. This flexible model gives professors the opportunity to become more involved in cooperative projects with partners from business, politics, civil society and administration for one to three years.
The statutes of the FHP from November 2024 form the basis for the awarding and organisation of the transfer professorships. In order to ensure the necessary freedom for transfer activities, the teaching commitment will be reduced during the term. All details on the award statutes and criteria can be found here.
Relationships, feelings and multi-professional cooperation
Multi-professional cooperation and the promotion of emotional and social skills among educational professionals are key challenges in educational research. I am interested in how professionals act professionally in complex situations. In the PIPS project (PIPS – Participative Interactions in Care and Sleep Situations in Crèches), for example, we are researching how participative interactions are organised in crèches. With the help of videography and eye tracking, we analyse non-verbal communication and develop concepts to strengthen children's rights.
Prof. Dr. Dipl. Psych. Karsten Krauskopf has been Professor of Psychology in Social Work, Head of the Family and Competence Centre for Early Childhood (FamKom;FH) and Head of BASA D2 since 2020. After completing his doctorate at the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien on cooperative learning in digital contexts, he was involved in various research and practice development projects in the fields of inclusion and early childhood.
Future-orientated preservation and conversion
The transfer project, which is directly linked to the "Design – Build – Maintain" profile line and "Sub-project 5 – Future-oriented conversion" of the "InNoWest" joint project, is being carried out to promote the key cornerstones of building conservation, future-oriented conversion and recycling to reduce GHG emissions, resource consumption and waste in the construction industry. Plans include a website on resource-conserving remodelling, publication of results on clay crack remediation as well as specialist articles and lectures.
J?rg R?der has been Professor of Building Conservation, Building in Existing Contexts and Timber Construction at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam since 2018. I am particularly interested in the careful and conservative treatment of existing buildings and the use of sustainable building materials. I have already dedicated myself to the field of future-oriented remodelling in my many years of practical work. My goal at the FHP is now to activate the existing building stock and expand it sustainably as required.
Design in social work
The transfer project explores central key situations in social work from a design perspective in order to develop practical strategies for action. To this end, digital, hybrid and analogue spaces for reflection are created in which practical situations are reflected on together with national and international experts on the basis of an experience-oriented didactic concept. Students are specifically involved in the reflection process within the framework of casuistry labs. 3D video recordings of counselling situations enable an intensive learning experience. The project strengthens the link between science and practice and promotes intercultural exchange and innovative teaching methods.
Prof. Dr. Armin Schachameier has been Professor of Theories and Methods of Social Work at the FHP since 2020. He played a key role in setting up the BASA Dual-Digital degree programme and was previously head of the Social bob体育平台官网s degree programme at the Saxony Cooperative State University. He is particularly interested in combining theory and practice, which he specialises in in-depth casuistry seminars. In addition to his work as a design therapist, he was also the therapeutic director of an addiction centre.
Systematically creating and utilising knowledge
Alongside traditional production factors, knowledge and experience are considered the "raw materials" in organisations. However, knowledge is very difficult to grasp and therefore almost impossible to manage. Knowledge management attempts to become aware of this situation, to create
conducive framework conditions and to provide various tools to enable employees in the organisation to consciously and systematically deal with knowledge and experience. Even after 35 years in the field, I am still fascinated by how organisations 'tick' in this area. I would like to pass on this experience in the Transfer Sprint.
Prof. Dr. Peter Heisig has been a professor of information and knowledge management at the FHP since 2015. As an engineer with a doctorate in social sciences, my path led me from the Fraunhofer Institute in Berlin via the University of Cambridge and Leeds University Business School to FH Potsdam. I also gained experience as a freelance consultant in knowledge management for small and very large commercial enterprises and public organisations.
FHP Textile Lab at the Brandenburg Textile Museum Forst
As part of the redesign of the Brandenburg Textile Museum Forst, a satellite of the FHP Textile Lab at the Faculty of Design is being created as a permanent exhibition. The lab offers insights into future textile developments and enables students to experience production processes at first hand and incorporate their work into the museum collection. In addition, a textile archive with innovative material developments and technologies is being created, accompanied by research projects and exhibitions.
Prof. Silvia Knüppel has been Professor of Product and Perspective in the Product Design programme at the Department of Design since 2021. I studied product design at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe and the Design Academy Eindhoven and have been running my own studio for a long time, specialising in experimental and conceptual design. The design of textile products is an important but often neglected area of product design that opens up numerous connections to other disciplines and has always inspired me.
Social work in daycare centres and family centres in Brandenburg
The project focuses on the question of the extent to which social work in daycare centres and family centres contributes to an inclusive and participatory organisational design that is aware of inequality and poverty. The aim of the project is to close research gaps in the understanding and implementation of social work in these institutions and to develop an orientation framework with and for practitioners. Students from the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences are also involved in this project. The youth welfare office of the state capital Potsdam is a co-operation partner.
Prof. Dr. Tanja Salem has been Professor of Theory and Practice of Childhood Education at the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences at the FH Potsdam since the winter semester 2022/23 and has been a transfer professor by lot since the summer semester 2025. She researches and teaches in particular in the field of childhood in the migration society with a focus on multilingualism and social inequality.
T.R.A.C.K.S. "Training on Analytics, Compliance, Knowledge, and Security"
T.R.A.C.K.S. focuses on the effects on digital sovereignty and academic freedom of the collection and re-utilisation of user data on commercial academic websites that does not comply with data protection regulations. This harmful science tracking affects not only researchers, but everyone! Together with the Berlin Central and Regional Library, target group-specific formats are to be developed in a participatory manner in order to raise awareness of protective measures and alternative infrastructures.
Prof. Dr. Ulrike Wuttke has been Professor of Library Science - Strategies, bob体育平台官网 Development and Science Communication since 2023. Previous positions include FU Berlin, TH K?ln, Universiteit van Amsterdam, Universiteit Gent and the G?ttingen State and Regional Library (SUB). As a library and information scientist and digital humanista, she is committed to the interdisciplinary combination of research and practice to strengthen the integrity of an open information society.
