A new further education course entitled "Archives in the Information Age" will start on 22/09/2025. This certificate course is aimed at employees in archives or related institutions who wish to expand their qualifications.
The programme comprises ten modules that provide a comprehensive overview of the most important tasks and tools of archival practice. These include modules on topics such as archive management, historical education and public relations, audiovisual media and historical source work. In addition, there are four modules on digital archiving with different focal points, two modules on digital strategies in archival work and on preservation as a basis for (digital) utilisation. A further module deals with copyright and personal rights in archives.
The two-day seminars combine theoretical content with practical reports and exercises. They offer participants a platform for exchanging experiences and ideas both with the lecturers and with each other. The programme is supplemented by a workshop in the archive of the Jewish Museum Berlin and a visit to the ZUSE Institute Berlin with on-site discussions with experts.
Participation is possible for the entire programme as well as for individual modules, provided there are enough places available.
