Under the title "Data Streams and Cultural Oases", ISI2025 provided a stimulating opportunity to discuss current developments and challenges in the information sciences. During the conference, the broad spectrum of topics and the necessity of a comprehensive examination of these issues for the further development of the discipline were presented and reflected upon.

The 18th International Symposium on Information Science (ISI 2023) took place from the 18th to the 10th of March 2025 in Chemnitz under the title "Data Streams and Cultural Oases". The conference was organised at Chemnitz University of Technology. The keynote speeches were given by Silke Voigt-Heuke, Museum für Naturkunde Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Research, on the topic of "Citizen Science: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Directions", Prof. Dr. S?ren Auer, Director of the TIB and head of the Data Science & Digital Libraries research group, on the topic of "Neuro-symbolic Organisation of Research Contributions with Knowledge Graphs and Large Language Models" and Lukas Schneider, Saxon State Library – Dresden State and University Library (SLUB) and project manager of the SAVE state programme, on the topic of "The audiovisual heritage in Saxony - preserving film and sound treasures in the long term".

The FH Potsdam was represented in particular by Prof Dr Julia Stru?, who moderated the Gerhard Lustig Award ceremony as a member of the board and jury chairwoman. In addition, a good dozen students from the various Bachelor's degree programmes (Archival Studies, Library Sciences, Information and Data Management) of the Department of Information Science at the FH Potsdam took part in an excursion to the symposium organised by Prof. Dr Ulrike Wuttke, where they were active as listeners, moderators and speakers in the student session(programme).

A special highlight was the workshop on "Data ethics – data tracking" organised by the Movetia project "Teaching data skills at universities in the D-A-CH region", Vera Husfeldt (FH Graubünden), Ulrike Wuttke (FH Potsdam), Stefan Dreisiebner (FH K?rnten) in the run-up to the ISI on Monday. The focus of the international workshop was the presentation of the results of a seminar group from the Information Didactics and Information Literacy course from the summer semester 2024 (Prof. Dr Ulrike Wuttke) consisting of Ioanna Danai Katsougiannopoulou, Ha Thao Suong Vu, Nadja Hartwich. The students presented a playful approach to awareness raising for data tracking in the scientific field. In addition to the students, Dr Timo Steyer (Technische Universit?t Braunschweig, University Library) and Dr Robert Altschaffel (Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, University of Magdeburg) as well as members of Prof Dr Vera Husfelfdt's team, Maia Lenherr and Urban Kalbermatter took part in the workshop and discussed the game idea and possibilities for further development with those present.

Thanks to Movetia's support, the evening was also used for further intensive dialogue over dinner. This resulted in further suggestions, including for the partnership between the Department of Information Science at the FH Potsdam and the Swiss Institute for Information Science at the FH Graubünden.

We would also like to thank the department for sponsoring the students' participation. Further publications and reports are planned.
