FHP and VdW jointly organise further training in business archiving

The Association of Business Archivists (VdW) and the Central Institution for Continuing Education (ZEW) at Potsdam University of Applied Sciences officially sealed their cooperation on 7 May 2025. By signing a cooperation agreement, both partners are laying the foundation for the future-oriented further development of professional training in the field of business archives.
At the centre of the cooperation is the comprehensive redesign of an established introductory course in business archives. Under the academic direction of Prof. Dr Susanne Freund from the Department of Information Sciences at Potsdam University of Applied Sciences, the course will be modernised in terms of content and didactics and offered in a new form from December 2025.
The agreement was signed by Lysann Goldbach for the VdW (Chair) and Mustafa Turna for the ZEW (Director). Prof. Dr Eva Schmitt-Rodermund, President of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences, was also present at the signing of the agreement and emphasised the importance of this cooperation for the continuing education landscape and the archives sector.
"The close cooperation with the VdW gives us the opportunity to respond to the needs of the specialist community in a practical and targeted manner. We look forward to working together to develop innovative formats for continuing professional development," says Mustafa Turna, Head of the Centre for Continuing Education at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences.
With this partnership, VdW and ZEW are sending a clear signal for the further development and professionalisation of continuing education in the business archives sector. Further joint projects are already being planned.
