The AI.CUBE escape room will open on the 17th of October at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP) and the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (THWi) in Luckenwalde.

After a successful start at the Babelsberg Media Innovation Centre (MIZ), the AI.CUBE is moving to the University Presence of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (FHP) and Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (THWi) in Luckenwalde. Over 300 citizens played the escape room on the topic of artificial intelligence at MIZ Babelsberg from November 2021 to March 2022. Thanks to the cooperation with the university's main office, the project is now also accessible to people in Luckenwalde and the surrounding area.

"Artificial intelligence is already shaping our everyday lives much more than many of us realise. One of our tasks is to make citizens media literate – and that includes teaching them how this new technology is used in journalism and the media world, for example," says Volker Bach, Managing Director of MIZ Babelsberg. "We have a strong partner at our side with the Luckenwalde University Office," adds Hermance Grémion, Director of MIZ Babelsberg. "We are delighted to be able to offer the AI.CUBE on the premises of the university's main office and thus reach even more people – in the region and beyond the media city of Babelsberg."

"At the University Representation Centre Luckenwalde, we want to communicate current research topics and study content in a low-threshold, vivid and interactive way at the interface between universities and the region. We are therefore delighted to welcome the AI.CUBE as a suitable programme. In addition, the innovation potential that lies in the cooperation between university teaching and external partners can be experienced here," says Prof. Dr. Tobias Schr?der, Vice President for Teaching and Learning at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and project manager of the University Office Luckenwalde together with Prof. Dr. Antje Michel (FHP) and Prof. Dr. Dana Mietzner (THWi).

Playful approach to the topic of artificial intelligence

The offer was developed by the Media Innovation Centre Babelsberg (MIZ) in collaboration with Dr. Katrin von Kap-herr's "AI Escape Room" seminar. The idea: to make a complex topic such as AI and the potential and challenges of the technology for the media world accessible in a playful way. The AI.CUBE was honoured with the Audience Award of the Potsdam Prize for Science Communication by the proWissen Potsdam association at the beginning of June 2022.
